So are you guys pro water changes or against water changes? And why?

Weighing Seth Meyers GIF by Late Night with Seth Meyers
Absolutely Pro water change. I’m sure there are many that feel with all the modern technologies and easy to use chemicals and filters, it’s unnecessary, but you just can’t beat adding fresh water and export nutrients to keep a tank humming. Look at how the ocean does it and let that be your guide. Two complete water changes a day. Tides in and tides out. The beaches and waves are the protein skimmer. Waves foam up the water, place it on the beach and the sand sifts out the junk. New nutrients and chemicals are brought in daily. Excess nutrients are removed on the beach or fall to the bottom of the ocean well away from the reefs. That’s what we want to emulate. If you live in the country or speed a lot of time there, you can readily see the difference in a stagnant pond and one with a running stream through it where excess nutrients are removed daily. when I owned a pet store and someone wanted to start a fish tank this is what I would tell them. Keep using your toilet everyday, but don’t flush it but once a week and see what happens. Pretty easy picture to see. I do daily water changes using Apex and all my parameters stay spot on except for those that the corals use faster than the water changes can handle. Tha Alk, Ca, Mag and Iodine. I dose those. Here is a picture of a stagnant pond and bay that don’t get water changes. A stagnant pond and a stagnant bay where no water changes happen in nature.

Absolutely great explanation! I am very pro water change as well. We do them weekly in the farm.
