So what got everyone in to the hobby??

Would you believe a Blue Macaw? I decided i needed a pet and wanted something a little more unique instead of a dog or cat. Large parrot seemed to fit the bill. Got one! What I found was they required more attention than mammal pets. So, I bought a pet store to keep the Macaw there where it could be entertained. Store had lots of fish including a saltwater section. Got into the saltwater stuff and started my own saltwater tank at home. owning a pet store meant I could get everything wholesale. Eventually sold the Macaw to a nice family, sold the pet store to friends and went full throttle into saltwater corals and fish. Took me a while, but finally found my perfect match in a hobby.

Definitely one of the more unique getting in to the hobby stories I have ever heard! lol

I grew up on a big farm/ranch in Texas. I never lost the love of growing things and caring for critters. My two primary hobbies now are growing Bonsai trees and caring for my reef tank. Life is good. A lot of people can’t fathom how those two things evolved from my career in life. I tended to life on the edge for my country. This was my office for 36 years in the Air Force and working for Boeing Aerospace training young Fighter Pilots. As they say, felt like I never worked a day in my life.
