+1^^^^ I bought a drywall mud mixing paddle and any time I open a new bucket out comes the drill and paddle and it gets a good mix cause every bucket of salt that I've used in the last seven years have had this problem your params will be different every batch of water all the way through the bucket if you don't mix it !!

Oh yeah just don't crank the drill to the max you can get plastic and metal ones look for the plastic one then if you need to mix up a quick batch of water it works for that as well !

LPS might be OK but if you have SPS it may be stress your corals. I do not want to pay the high end salt low on the CAL, ALK and MAG like Tropic Marine Pro. I rather to buy the Instant Ocean, the price it's a lot cheaper with the same parameter as the TMP.
I run my alk between 5.5-7 with no problems. Correct me if I'm wrong but NSW has a dkh of 6.5.

I don't see myself paying $80 a bucket for TMP salt that you have to add buffer to. The second water change 35 gallon (I mix 50g every time) on the D&D salt after I switched from Tropic Marine Pro to D&D. So far so good, I didn't see any residue on the container. May be my container is blue, so I could not see it. LOL
Here is the parameter I measured on the brand new water I mixed with D&D salt before I do water change.
Temp: 78 degree
Cal: 450 ppm
Alk: 9.5 dKH
Mag: 1350 ppm

Here what I got an email of statement from Lou Ekus of Tropic marine Director of US Operations.

" As I have told you MANY times by phone. The ALK of Pro-REEF is intentionally set at between 6-6.5 dKh. If you want to maintain a higher ALK than that, you should be using the original formula. The ALK pf Pro-REEF is set where it is to accommodate for VERY LONG term use of reactors that tend to raise ALK over long term use. HOWEVER< I DO NOT WANT TO SEE COMPLAINTS AT THAT TIME REFERENCING WHAT YOU CONCIDER TO BE A LOW LEVEL OF Ca and Mg. In our original mix, because we use ALL UNCHELATED Ca, the Ca is around 380 ppm and the Mg is around 1200 ppm. Those parameters work well concidering the small water changes of 10-20% and the fact that you will have to supplement Ca and Mg EVERY DAY in your tank anyway."

Base on his statement the Tropic Marine Pro is very low on CAl, ALK and Mag on their new formula/batch. Do you think it's worth for you to pay a lot money for this TMP then you need to supplement on Cal, ALK and Mag?

Some people run their parameters at different levels. I've found if I go above 8dkh alk, my sps suffer alk burn. I am running biopellets with a undetectible level of po4 and nitrate. With the low nutrient levels I cannot run a high dkh. So, I would rather have a salt with a low alk and higher BALANCED Calcium and Mag. Keep in mind they are trying to achieve a balance with these chemicals. Plus accomodate the ones who do not need the higher alk for these reasons.
