Hey all! I was wondering if anyone has any links to any laws about bringing corals between eu countries for personal use? I brought corals from Portugal to Ireland, with little problems. I've heard if the countries are both within the eu and the corals are for personal use you can bring them. Ive also heard that, with a carry on, you can have ten 100ml containers. Any substantiated info?

I couldn’t find much information on this either, but this is what my AI assistant said:

Traveling with live corals between countries in the European Union (EU) is subject to strict regulations due to the environmental impact and the protection of endangered species. Corals are often listed under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), which the EU adheres to.

Here's what you generally need to consider:

1. **CITES Permits**: If the coral species is listed under CITES, you will need the appropriate export and import permits. These permits must be obtained from the relevant authorities in the country of origin and the destination country.

2. **National Regulations**: In addition to CITES, individual EU countries may have their own regulations regarding the transportation of live corals. You must comply with these national laws.

3. **Customs Declarations**: When traveling, you will need to declare the live corals at customs and provide all necessary documentation.

4. **Health and Safety**: The transportation of live corals must also comply with health and safety regulations to prevent the spread of diseases and ensure the well-being of the corals.

It is essential to contact the relevant authorities in both the country of origin and the destination country well in advance of your travel to ensure you have all necessary permits and comply with all regulations.
