I am very sad for Bobby and his wife. I can't even imagine what they must be feeling right now.

As a father myself, there were so many things I wanted to tell him, but as soon as I shook his hand, the words caught in my throat. I can't even begin to imagine the pain he and his wife are going through right now. I honestly don't know how anyone can possibly handle a loss like that. If there was a way to ensure that no parent ever has to outlive their child, I would do everything in my power to make it so; unfortunately we simply don't get to choose something like that.

He was a good friend. I'll miss talking to him. He liked talking about the latest astronomy related topic he had read on yahoo news every time I came in to work.

I'm not sure I would have had a clue what to say to Bobby. I don't think there are words for it.

I would not have had the words. But I noticed a man and woman in our church who lost their daughter in a car accident a couple years ago walk up to talk to Bobby and Kathy at the end of the service. Knowing the man, I am certain he knew what to say -- if anyone does. Wish I could have heard that talk, but some things are most definitely private and intimate.
