I was interested in tracking growth and coloration of a classic JB I had for years. Fortunately I was able to track down enough pictures throughout the years to show general growth and coloration. Hopefully this gives some folks insight on their own pieces and the potential their well cared for Corals can posses with a bit of patience and persistence. Enjoy!

Originally acquired the JB from a really nice local reefer. Based on our discussion this shroom at the time I acquired it was already 6+ years old. It was apparently acquired as a trade for basic T5 lighting equipment before JB’s exploded in price.

Sept 8, 2017 approx 3” at the time and came in tow with 3 or so babies. Coloration: speckled red with no green.

Aug 25, 2018 approx 3”. Coloration: first speck of visible green and noticeable red streaking

April 9, 2019. Approx 3”. Coloration: additional green speckling, noticeable increase in red streaking from previous picture.

Aug 10, 2019. Size approx 2.5” JB dropped a lot of babies and reduced in size. Color: concentrated streaking becoming noticeable, where one streak would appear more would show shortly afterwards.

May 02, 2020. Size approx 2.25”. Shroom detached from original colony settled on this rubble rock for abt 2 months. Coloration: significant red and enlarging spots of green. Where the red and green overlaps is starting to show purple.

This is where she stands today. I’ll look to add to this thread as this shroom continues to grow and mature. Thanks for looking!

Very cool. I just picked up a poletti lineage JB so this was awesome to see.
These mushrooms seem super hardy I've only had it in my system for a couple weeks it's either doubled in size or it's getting well acclimated and starting to show lots of red streaks.
Do you know exact lineage of yours?
How many and how often has it made babies for you.
This jb I have is moving around in the rubble quite a bit already.
On Edit I am pretty much color blind only see solid colors inside of other colors however I can see the greens and purples. Awesome piece and nice grab. Love the cap structure as well on these Jawbreakers I can see why they blew up!

I honestly couldn't tell you exact lineage on this guy, all i can say is that its a local SOCAL strain. I usually refer to this JB as Big Bertha so anyone that has ever got one from me throughout the years can just trace it back to her lol. Shes' dropped some here and there. When she does it'll be a run of 2-3 babies per month for a few months before she stops and resets her foot.

Hopefully yours settles soon and starts dropping those babies.
