Hello everyone,

I will be moving soon and because of that I am tearing my tank down and selling it.

I filled up the 25 gallons of my tank with 1 pound of citric acid powder. All my rock and corals and fish were out obviously. I left water and algae to be killed my the acid.

After about 24 hours I return and my whole tank is full of this white slime. It’s all gunked up in my pumps and Power heads.

I have since drained the water and am looking for a good way to go in and clean up the remaining white slime in tank and in pumps. Is there something I can add to the water and run another cycle?

Is this white slime Normal? I am assuming it’s a bi product of the organic matter being broke down. I will attach images.

Only thing I can think of is scoop, scoop and more scooping with a lot of fresh water rinsing. :)

On the upside, this will keep others from doing the same. :D
