have a question for everyone I have a torch coral that is retracing and seems like as if the tentacles got blasted off in the night. It
1000004747.jpg
was doing great just before I went to bed. I have two powerheads one is a multi control with ramp up ramp down at the lowest speed and the other is a fluval rated for a 30gallon tank which My rank is 32.5 gallon. Do you think the flow could have destroyed the poplys on the torch coral through the night? Right side is before and left side is after I woke up and checked on the coral.

Is it in direct line of flow??

Possible that the polyps got blasted
It was not in direct line of flow, the powerhead was facing the front of the tank pointing at the bottom of the rock the torch is on. I turned off a powerhead since and I'm just running one powerhead on the opposite end of the torch and it seems to be re growing some polpys slowly but surely. It's mouths are still open at night time and close up during the day almost completely now.

My bubble tip anemone decided to grab the underside of a rock where I can't see it lol going to let it be and hopefully it will move back to the front lol.

mine did that too, decided to come out to the front of the rock after a couple weeks and now it’s a great centerpiece!

sorry I didn’t even acknowledge the original question lol. What are your params? it does look like it got blasted. you said it is starting to come out a little bit now that you’ve changed the flow up?
params are stable all within range for corals and yeah it really had to have gotten blasted the polys where 5 inches long i woke up and they where all 1 inch maybe less and i had both power heads on so my thinking is there was to much flow when it went to retrace at night and they got blasted in the process.

Unlikely for them to be blown off until the ramp up is very sudden as the torch would normally have time to retract them.

If an LPS tank you want a gradual ramp up.

one of the two flow heads was pointed near it on the front side so i know that must have blown it off as well including the power head that was blowing flow up on the back portion. seemed okay during the day and woke up to it gone,

How long have you had this coral? Was it doing well for a long time and then suddenly retracted?
i had it for all of 1 day lol i woke up to it torn to shreds. and not that i turned down flows it seems to be recovering the polyps that got blasted off in the night. if the flow is to high when polyps retract it will cause stress and can just tear them off in the process of them retracting.

i dont have an option for gradual ramp up and i just have it on ramp up ramp down for erratic flow

Point them to the water surface is possible, 3d printed flow deflectors are what I used to reduce direct flow in a nano.
Quick question for this little thing poking out of the bottom of my torch coral. It looks like two antennas of a worm or soemthing. I removed it one night manually and it just came back.

Once the polyp start to bail on a torch it is usually unrecoverable. The only time I have been able to save a torch in that situation is a two headed torch and one head started to bail. I then fragged the torch and the managed to save one head. First thing you should do is check water parameters--don't assume they are okay. Sometimes this just happens, especially if you bought the torch from a shop that sells coral imported from SEAsia/Australia. That is where most come from but they have a risk of not acclimating to tank conditions.

Honestly it's doing way better and already re growing on both heads, I did not get to checking my parameters as I have been away but it has grown significantly from where it was before I left. It's also working its way to splitting as it's bulging in the front and new polyps growing where it's splitting. I dosed amino acids amin last night and it seems to be happy woth that.
