Good day reefers,

As my tank first birthday will arrive at the end of this month. I do think that it is quite mature, as it is a mix reef NSW tank with variety of SPS, LPS, and softies. In the latter half of the year, the number of victim is reduced to as near as zero :D

Therefore, I decided to get myself some (more) expensive corals than I usually buy. The gold/yellow torch coral, but my problem is I am not sure how to properly call it before even make a purchase. So I am seeking for some help on this.

I got two questions as per below:

1. What is the actual name of these gold/yellow torches? The vendor says it is 'Sun of God' while there are many other names that seem similar, namely 'God of Torch' or 'Torch of the Gods' are they all the same?

2. If they are not the same, what some of the majors identification for each such as the color, the polyp shape/size?

Any information on this is greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance!

None of the names are really scientific and many vendors just make up their own name. So there isn’t really a definitive answer to your question. That said, some names are more universal than others. The banana and holy grail torch for example are pretty universally accepted color morphs. Your best bet is to just use the photos to make your purchase choice instead of seeking out a specific name.

Thank you very much for your reply and confirming that I do not have to be obsessed about the name. I just bought two heads and waiting for the polyps to be fully extended. Very happy :D

Thank you for such constructive explanation, I will also share this to my friends for the knowledge. Amazing flock of torches though.

Also surprise that different type of torches can be really close to each other like that. IME I tried putting more than one green torches from different sources together and it rarely work. Maybe I am at fault for not giving the skeletons some space.

I always have at least one blank plug spot of space in each direction to give room for them to spread out a little and for flow to get in between them
