Went to a LFS and asked if they have any corals for $20 or under since nothing was labelled. He said he doesn't think so but he'll look. Took me to a tank filled with xenias, gsp and kenya trees. Pointed at kenya tree that was a 1/4" nub and said he'll do that for $20.
That's horrible tbh. Do they at least have a good live garauntee?

90% of the mushrooms and stuff at my lfs are $20

Hell I just lucked out with a $20 magic carpet

My lfs does take the big pieces to sell for like $100 but they usually come with a decent size rock as well so it kind of evens out

For me it’s Mr. Freeze Lepto. The frag I had has taken over about 2/3 of a 32 hole frag rack. Its also relatively aggressive too killing a couple SPS frags.

Usually the goal of Reefers is to successfully grow coral and keep them healthy. However, it seems that too much of a good thing can be bad too. Are there any coral that grow quickly and “effortlessly” for you, where you actually can’t give them away and may even have to discard them?

In the process of cleaning up the overgrowth.
Just took a few buckets to a LFS far away from me.
Organ pipe coral.
Assorted mushrooms (Including a rock of orange Yuma's that got sold immediately?)
Kenya weeds

I have removed most of them many times and eventually I will be rid of them.

Chaeto and Aiptasia, do those count?

And my fish tank has an inferno Nem that did nuclear fission and I have clones everywhere. Those I get credit for. Found another migrating towards a powerhead earlier today.

Honestly, I take in free coral - even if I know I can’t grow it! My angels are fat because of this :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

No such thing as garbage coral you just have to find the right people!!
You are right. Natural balance is very beautiful, love them triggers, angels and in serious occasions parrots.

Speaking of my experience, it's not yet for me. It's a full-time job keeping my current coral happy. Nothing seems to be working. :upside-down-face:

Montis can be annoying

Spongodes will over take things quickly, so will the different colors of monti caps.

I am pruning chunks of my montis away often because it outgrows everything else

How can we(community) help? What kind of corals aren't doing well?
You guys are the best. I posted some of the details of my troubles in my thread a little bit ago: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/returning-to-my-sad-tank-after-rap-nyc-help.1059911/#post-12621555

Not me over here with a tank full of Xenia, branching GSP, toadstool leather, neon green rhodactis, pipe organ, and a bunch of zoa frags hahaha. As a beginner with a 7 week old tank I find the idea of successfully getting my coral “out of hand” exciting. And when we run out of space… so much the better to say “we’d better start over with a new tank!”
