my tank right now looks like a science experiment but im ok with that lol...i dont have a sump but would like to do that sometime...but i am very happy with what i have and happy that everything seems to be thriving in my tank so far...oh and i noticed i have a redish looking polyp of some sort creaping in and out one of the holes in my live rock never seen it before and didnt know if it was somthing bad like aptaisa and noticed alot of little white clusters of somthing growing on the sides of my tank...would you have any idea on what that could be...oh and i just want to thank you agian for all the help

Just Google "aptasia" and then look at all the photos. Aptasia anemones often look very different from one another. I don't know if it's different species or what.

As for the little white clusters, can you post a pic on here, or take a pic and text it to me? If I can't identify it, maybe someone else can.

"Science experiment" is a great term! In my efforts to kill aiptasia I learned more about my tank than at any other time... everything from lemon juice to an $800 laser and everything in between. I felt I was preparing for an elementary school science fair...

Welcome Matt!! Sounds like you got a great setup so far. I always recommend to friends to make sure you have an rodi system (one of the most important things IMO). Dont buy it from the Aquarium store though, they sell it for 275 for a four stage system. Bulk Reef Supply has same kind for 123 plus shipping (and no tax!)

I had a person at the aquarium store tell me I didnt need a protein skimmer or an rodi system. I lost a ton of money that way and I like to keep people from doing the same. If you have any questions, just let us know!

Let me know how the laser works! I have a Wicked Lasers laser pointer (one thatll shoot 100 miles) and Id love to burn some aptasias!

yea i have a protien skimmer right now but no rodi unit....i have been getting my water from the fish store were i got all my stuff from...looking into getting one was going to go with the 4 stage with the tds meter on it....thank you for the advice any help i can get is great...
