They are smart. They actually looking for gap to jump through, trying to get out of tank. I have lost flasher and fairy when I am in a hurry to feed and momentarily crack the lid open.
I lost a Eightline flasher and Naoko fairy this way. Needless to say I am always observant when I crack the lip open now. My overflow also covered. Jump proof now.

Yeah after the last few months break, I have jump proofed my new lid, I think(fingers crossed).

Wires in the tank are all brought through one tight hole, and the edge of the lid has no gaps between the tank and frame now.

Chaoti are a great wrasse. I’m looking for another one. After 6 months mine withered away. Was an aggressive eater and never hid.

Oh I have a lid, they just happen to find that one spot where they could actually fit(you know that one spot where wires or whatever go through the lid).

I have kept leopards for well over 20 years, and yes they can, and will jump, as will any, and all fish eventually.

My 10 year old H. Chrysus hits the lid daily. I had one negrosensis that I rescued 3 times from the floor, to eventually finding him as fish jerky one day.
The one reason to dislike flashing tilefish is their love for jumping. Mine found every gap possible until he passed 4 jumps later.
Longest flashing tile I had that lasted nearly 7 months.

I also lost my hybrid flasher when I introduced my regal Angel a year ago. Found him crisped up between the couch and the cushion.

bummer that it did not make it. any ideas on what might have caused it?
I think they could have issues with other aggressive eaters. The choati ate well and swooped into the mysis and tdo when dropped in but can shy a bit when thr genicanthus angels and clowns moved in. I think this behavior of shying away kept increasing until it lost too much eeight to recover.

Well, annoyingly my Isosceles has gone really skinny over night. He’s also been hiding more often (even with a lightly stocked tank after losing some of the gobies).
I feel like it could be old age as I got him very mature and he is still feeding vigorously. Fingers are crossed for him though - I’m feeding more now in that tank to see if it was just that issue.

Wow what a day I had! My 8 hour round trip day ended up being more like 16 thanks to a million stops my wife wanted to take.

Took the 4 hour one way drive to my not so local LFS. Tamarin was too beat up, and skinny to even consider, and the chaoti he just sold not 10 minutes before I got there. Just my luck with my holy grail. One of these days I will end up with this fish. @Tcook I have heard from many LFS's and online friends that have kept the chaoti, and all report what you did. Eats well, well adjusted, and just ups and stops eating eventually to waste away to nothing. It's really a shame as they are probably the best looking leopard IMO.

Holy crap! when did the price of PE mysis go way up? Np one around me sells the large flat packs, just a petco that sells the bubble packs which only went up like $5 locally which is what I've been buying for the last year or so. A large flat pack was $50!

Anyways, of course the wife wins again! I saw a very fat and happy juvenile exquisite fairy! So young it still has the white spot on the tip of its nose. So of course I just had to get the little dude. Then my wife sees a purple squat reef lobster. Well guess it's coming home with me. Luckily I have no smallish fish for it to try and attack. I am a little worried about my sand sleepers, but they should be ok.

In my typical flair I just plopped and dropped the exquisite. Lights were off for the night, but I did have a look this morning(still dark in the tank) and she's sleeping in her cocoon, and snug and tight.

Fingers crossed this lobster doesn't end up killing all my wrasses.

So just did some searching on the net for the differences between the aussie, fiji, or maldives exquisite.

Marine collectors list the exquisite as H. Chrysus!?

That would confuse me. I hear Exquisite wrasse I’m thinking the Fairy Cirrhilabrus species and they come from different locations as well. Also I hear Chrysus I’m thinking the yellow wrasse
That's because their website is wrong.
