I've seen two, and they're out the tank now, so I don't think harlequin shrimp is the answer, but how much do I worry?

I have noticed missing coraline, but that started going away with the long-spine urchin. otherwise, no ill effects.

If they aren't chowing down on your coral, or their numbers haven't reached epic proportions, I would just manually remove them as they pop up. For the most part, it's NBD... until it is. Just ask @907_Reefer

I have them too and just periodically go hunting. So far I haven't seen them on anything but rocks and glass. I've got bigger fish to fry atm.

If they aren't chowing down on your coral, or their numbers haven't reached epic proportions, I would just manually remove them as they pop up. For the most part, it's NBD... until it is. Just ask @907_Reefer

I do have them, not in huge numbers. I go in and remove a handful when I am doing maintenance. They do eat my zoas, but I have so many zoas that they barely can put a dent in them.

ironically I always said I didn't want zoas. and I still don't want them. if anyone wants some come get them lol. I'll pull them off the rocks for ya...

O yeah those suckers.... so I did do manual removal when I saw more than 1 on glass....

I also was dipping my zoa rock 2x a week and manually removing them. Maybe drastic.. but it did help the tank bounce back.

I also began the use of iodine and then now "all for reef" which has iodine. Zoas have taken off... and recovered.

I also had a point with weird flat worms, used flat worm exit (super expensive) and it didnt kill them all... but definitely knocked back population.

I introduced 2 wrasse since then and have far less pests.

I dont mind some.... But I think when there is too many .... pods, stars, etc. Their usual food source goes away. and they begin eating other things to live....

I think the best solution is introducing something to control population so you dont have to.

I wouldn't say I like them. I have the non-coral eaters and in very low numbers... I have one that's about 1" across that I haven't seen in a couple of weeks now and I have seen 1 or 2 miniature ones since. When they become over populated I don't like them.

Oh yea, I pick those buggers out regularly. I don't mind some for CUC but with too many they eat all my zoas and caught one on a blasto the other day.. Whenever I'm in for a water change I just snag some visible ones out..

I like them but of course too much of anything is too much. In the right amount they’re great CUC. Too many and they eat themselves out of house and home. That’s when they’re most likely to turn to coral IMO. I’m nowhere near that amount though, and my wrasse will be able to eat them once he grows another couple of inches I imagine.

The ones with the red never touched any of my corals either. They had plenty of detritus and the like.
