So that's why we have a fullDSR program, including PO4+ dosing to get rid of imbalances http://www.DSRreefing.com/supplements/#As phosphate and nitrate level control is carbon based and dosed accordingly the nitrate levels, DSR can not be considered to be coral and system safe. High nitrate levels can not be reduced at low phosphate levels without increasing the risk for phosphorus starvation. Dosing organic carbon based on the nitrate level removes autotrophic carrying capacity and it has been proven to harm carols as dosing organic carbon based on the nitrate level does not prevent overdosing. Once the systems carrying capacity is mainly based on heterotrophic growth, growth rates must be maintained to support the bio-load as not sufficient autotrophic carrying capacity may be present. For reinstalling the autotrophic carrying capacity ( nitrification) the system must be recycled and reconditioned wich is not easy once the system is matured. This means, once using DSR, one has to continue to use it. Or any other organic carbon based (reef safe?) product. ref: https://www.baharini.eu/baharini/doku.php?id=nl:makazi:het_water:filtratie:vodka
The DSR powerfilter (combined with the proteinskimmer) are a great way to export surpluses of bacteria and detritus.
You get full control , you only need to learn how, by being openmindend.
Don't judge before you know all the facts.
If you get these results with so little effort, why would you ever want to go back to anything less.
It's all about reading into the system which have already proven it selves on a large platform.
Theory is fine, but the results is what really counts
These are pictures of a tank at a dutch LFS (Ocean&Lake) which took off since running on EZ for 2 months now
