Well, it’s now lights on and I’ve been sat enjoying the tank for a good 30 minutes now. Look at these brutes! These photos don’t do them justice at all, that middle one has a definite Orange corallite. It looks so much like the Passion Fruit, you just know when the LFS owner came back from the farm with 4 Milles, if even just one was left it would’ve been in this tank haha. Now these are corals I’m excited to get growing especially with the growth rate of my other mille in this tank!

Here’s a couple before and afters of a couple coral pieces I could find photos from when they were in the Max Nano.
Let’s start with the pink Acropora millepora.

Here’s that mille only 1 month in this tank.
And now here it is again, 6 months in this tank!
I believe this is also a Rainbow mille as just look at how much colour is in there. Pinks, greens and even yellow on the top.

Well, we added to the family of millepora!
Not 1, not 2 but 3 Rainbow Milles call this tank home now!

I have an update on the left one;
I believe this is a Sunset Millepora, possibly even an ‘Ultra’ Sunset.
This is an Ultra (Photo isn’t mine).

All 3 are now stuck on the rockwork and thriving! Obviously orange had to go front and centre, I’ve never seen such a nice copper gold/orange from a Coral. Photos to come in Lights on tomorrow - I have a few updates including the Deresa clam being repositioned due to his size.

Well, that was another successful trip to the LFS!
I came home with another coral. Here’s a colony of this coral (Can you guess what it is? It’s a rather wanted OG one and was thought to be impossible only a few years ago).

Went into the tank about 30 minutes ago but the lights are so blue that the blue rim really glows on camera.
The polyps on the base are green but the polyps growing up the branch are a beautiful blue.

Exactly that!
Here it is with a blue torch blasting onto it, photos in my actual light spectrum will come tomorrow :)

Yes it does need to colour up but you can already see the way it’s going!

It’s water change day so I got a few photos and time for updates!
The first major one is:
I’ve reduced the white in the spectrum to only 16%. I now run a more blue system and even then, to the eye it looks natural and you still get the colours of the clams and fish! Here’s an FTS
E2ACDAF4-715F-4A8F-B6AC-11ED627A64B1.jpeg

Update number 2:
I’ve finally gotten round to removing that slab from the Maxima clam. The way I did it was through just gently moving the clam in a left to right motion until I could see the actual byssal thread and then I slid a card under it trying to not destroy them which was successful :)
Here he is now in a more natural situation.
7A6B01B6-8742-4181-9FFA-6C13942A10CA.jpeg

and here is is before, when he was still on the slab (The other reason I got rid of the slab was because it keeps shaking in the flow and didn’t look too safe).
69D32537-C6D4-40F5-8D13-6175FD79BDC8.jpeg

And update number 3:
Look what I found in a rather dark cave! Those blue Zoanthids have been thriving. Hopefully I can get the cyano to be taken over by the Zooxanthellae and then I can start the back wall of Zoanthids (I’m still questioning whether to do the back wall only or both black walls).

And for an extra one… Look how nicely coloured up this mille is! I believe this is yet again, a rainbow which makes 3 Rainbow Milles with one Sunset :)

On a downside, my deresa isn’t pushing as much growth unfortunately… It’s almost a non-existent white band however the top of the clam (under the mantle) seems to have a nice white strand so I have some hope).
image.jpg

The strange thing is, my maxima continues to thrive. Just look at that beautiful white band of scutes.
image.jpg

So I wonder if my Deresa has lost that white as it’s on the sand which is where my cyano mainly builds. And it’s just the algae growing over new growth that makes it look like it’s dying.

I’ll get a big update out tonight however, I wanted to show off my Valida when it isn’t under lights! You can truly see the tricolour patterns :)

Well, I came home with a new wrasse and new coral after going to my LFS :)
The coral is for this tank and is a beautiful Goldrush Monti and the Wrasse is for my 4’ tank and is a just as beautiful Xenojulis margaritaceus :)

I assumed Xenojulis was one of those weird genera that weren’t flashy enough for the aquarium trade but maybe I’m wrong? Maybe just rare? Only one species I just saw.

Anyway it’s very cool. Reminds me of a Coelacanth for some reason.

Here’s a no light shot of the Montipora, the gold rush is one of my favourite types of monti. However the number 1 type is definitely the sunburst.

Well, last night I did a late night decision to move my Hammer from this tank.
Unfortunately ever since turning my lights to be more blue he’s started to recess his flesh. So I figured as he was already on the sandbed I tried moving him under my Monti to try shade it for the week yet he recessed his flesh more so I decided that my 4’ tank was under less PAR (more like 300-350 at the top of the tank instead of on the sand) and now my 4’ tank has another LPS that fades into the softies and LPS :)
Hopefully this guy thrives as well, in the photo you can see just how happy he was with that many heads and still splitting.

Just got off of work and… I came back with a fish.
I do still have the Choati plan but this girl has been in the shop for a while and I didn’t want to risk it. So I went for her as the tank is 7 months of age and she’s still rather small.
Here’s your clue;
