I am a 6 year long reefer. Just started up another tank after a break. This is a 120 gallon dual overflow. 40 gallon sump with 25 gallons liquid in it.
3/4 return 1 inch overflows.
Tank is 48” x24”x24”
Just started cycle 6 days ago.
Used live sand
Dry rock
Algae barn nitrocycle and Fritz 900

Wondering if I should get 3 viparspectra 165w or 2 will be sufficient and want to upgrade to 120degree lenses.

Noopsyche K7 Pro III

Start with 2 and if needed down the line you could always add a third

I’m very familiar with the viparspectra and have been reefing over 20 years. It’s a solid fixture and can grow coral well but it’s old tech and this is the new tech “high performance but budget friendly” light. More control over spectrum and programming and it makes corals look gooooooood

For a four foot tank, two lights will be enough for most coral. If you want to grow sps and have a more even blanket of coverage, a third can be added later. I would start with two myself. Welcome!
