Sorry to hear that man! But excited for you to start again. It's amazing how.much time.it takes to get to colony size and how fast they can be wiped out.
You're not lying. Years gone in the blink of an eye. However, I'm a very successful grower so I have no issue starting over.

That's awesome good luck with it. This tank is on its 4th year now. I hold my breath everytime I go downstairs in hopes of everything being in good shape lol

Your going to need to start sharing recipes after yesterday's meal and now BBQ duck
She really does need to publish a recipe book, even if it's just a digital copy. I would gladly buy it! I've seen her cooking over the years and she 100% knows what she's doing. I have yet to try her prime rib recipe. I think I'll do it this winter. Family is coming over for Christmas so I'll have to do a trial run before hand so I have it down.

Having been in the hobby for about 15 years and had long-lived successful tanks, the key is just to prepare for failure. Everything mechanical will break. How will you handle this? Once your corals are comfortable in your tank, the alk and nutrients can roam and things will be fine. However, what happens when the return pump dies while you're out of town for two nights? It's thing like that that nuke tanks.

Pho, spring rolls, egg rolls, fried cheese wontons, Chinese sausages are just a few things I regularly cook for my family

Eexactly. I've got some back up heaters and return pumps just in case. I keep back up lights as well now. Gotta have back ups of all the m3chanicals cuz it will be something like you said that will cause chaos

Man, I'm so excited to get back to large colonies like this! So beautiful! I got AEFW a few years ago and just couldn't shake them. I lost the battle and it broke my heart to pull out all the plate sized skeletons. I let me display go without sps for a very long time, but I'm finally starting to get back into the sps game this year. Lots of sticks I want to get!!!
I'm sorry to hear that.

About 2 weeks ago as we were headed to work, our nephew called and said that our Red Sea tank was leaking. My husband rushed home, just in time to save all the euphyllia and fish and moved them to our frag tank, and some over to our display. 73 gallons all over the floor. Needless to say, we won't be getting another red sea again, and we had that one for 2 years.

Oh man. That’s awful. I can’t believe how many people’s Red Seas sprung a leak

That's another important part of long term success: having two systems. Three is a lot to properly maintain, and one is all your eggs in one basket. It may not be ideal long term, but in the situation you described, you can make room in a secondary tank to save fish and corals.
