I've just had a complete tank wipe after a Blenny bought Velvet into my tank, I've made the decision to completly shut the tank down but I have 3 snails and a Hermit Crab in the tank. Is it safe to transfer these to a unaffected tank or should they stay seperate?

Pretty depressing to loose 4 fish over night especially when they showed no symptoms for 3 weeks.

Thanks in advance

sorry to hear about the velvet. Been there, it sucks. No it’s not safe to transfer to the inverts to a different tank. Velvet can live in the shells. You would have to keep them in a fishless system for the recommended fallow period.

Sorry for your loss. Do you mean that you had the Blenny in QT for three weeks and it showed no symptoms but still brought it into your DT? I´ve always thought that shouldnt be possible.

They were all bought at the same time and have lived in the tank for 3 weeks, blenny got stressed when I moved his little home rock and a few days later went powder coated and started flashing on the rocks and sitting in front of the wavemaker. He died about 1 day later and the clowns and the cardinal (1 year older) died the following day all powder coated and fast breathing

Yeah I had ich in my other tank a year ago but didn't lose any fish though my large female clown breaths a little weird

Sadly Ich and Velvet are from the same store, I will only buy copper treated fish now and this tank will be my QT tank.
