Doea anyone have their tank automated? I've accepted a job that will require me to be away a week at a time and I don't want to leave my wife stuck with worrying about my tank, she's busy enough with raising our boys! I'm thinking that setting up my Apex controller for monitoring and making sure my Synergy ATO box is filled; other than feeding, what else do you folks think can be automated?

I can tell from my experience;I just recently had to leave for four days and the only info I left with the sitter was how to feed and fill up the auto top off. the other side of the story is I know what my tank consumes and new they where a bit elevated when I left. but I don't have any big sps colonies that consume a lot of alk and calcium. I wish I had the funds for an apex system right now that would have put my mind at ease some.

Top off, dosing (or ca reactor) and obviously stuff like lights and heater with your Apex. Then feeding and maintenance when you are home would be all that's left. There is that new automated glass cleaner as well.

Controller for the lights, auto top off and heater.
You could get an auto feeder for pellets the week your not home.
Dosing pumps for keeping levels stable.
And just do a water change and empty the skimmer before you leave each time.
Portion out the daily feedings of food so your sitter doesn't over feed.
