Hello fellow reefers
I finally put together a decent stocking for my tank after finally obtaining my last fish (beautiful specimen pintail wrasse) and oddly enough a filefish as a utility fish for cleaning up pesky aiptasia.
Prior to these fish my current stocking was
1 possum wrasse
1 yellow tang (tank boss)
1 sailfin tang (close second possible tank boss)
1 tomini tang
1 flame hawk
1 ywg and his partner the annoying pistol shrimp
2 clowns
1 starry blenny
1 magnificent foxface
Tank is 4-2-2” 150g with decent rockwork and plenty of hiding space
Ultimately the sail fin tang will be rehomed
(He was only added to ease aggression between current stocking and the new arrivals of the tomini, and the magnificent foxface) so ultimately he’s not in the plans due to tank size.
So here we are today (10 weeks since I added any new fish); and I added my final two fish (filefish and pintail wrasse) in the hour before lights out which I began with feeding / introduction of new fish
Up to this point the tank was 95% peaceful with some random points of aggression directed at the foxface but nothing too serious from what I was seeing
Immediately upon adding the new arrivals the current tank boss (yellow tang) starts doing that swim up to the new wrasse and kind of posturing up to him (not biting or tail swiping but you can tell its aggression)
I put up a a decent size mirror 6-6” on the front panel which I did when I added the last batch which is working. Aggression amongst themselves has mostly ceased as all tangs and foxface are currently battling their reflection.
But that didn’t surprise me he’s sort of a dick. My main question is I’m noticing new aggression amongst the tangs (mostly settled by this point) and even my tomini randomly nipping at my foxface spines) and I’m curious if this is normal and due to new inhabitants or what?
What else can I do to ease the tension that’s currently going on? Is there any additional precautions I could take?
