I am in the process of this. The cameras that I was checking out yesterday all had extremely fast autofocus and very quiet shutter speeds - and I found that the much lighter weights of the mirrorless were resulting in much less body movement - giving the images greater stability.

The Sony A6400 I was checking out can actually run completely silent, so that might potentially have some benefit with reef photography. They didn't have the A6600 that I could look at, so I'm not sure if the eye focus would be a benefit or not (it's also quite a bit more in price as well as 25% heavier).

I have the canon R5.

I am a novice, so I find the digital view finder helpful for adjusting the exposure settings.

The eye focus works often, but not always. By touching the focus point near the eye, seems to capture the eye with higher frequency. Works well, when subject moves more slowly, and can adjust the tracking settings as well. Wrasse are still more challenging to shoot than many other fish even with the track, but when it works, it's extremely helpful.

I've had the camera for 3 months and I'm happy with it. I found this review helpful and honest. She discusses the eye AF around the 9 minute mark and some of the limitations in comparison to her SLR.

Lightweight and histogram in the viewfinder were the two main points for me. I'm not sure it would really have much of an advantage with tank photography in regards to the images.

Thanks for your reply and great shots. Love the Choati and the octotaenia?
