My pipefish are finally exploring the upper rocks and corals! Hopefully they'll notice the red bugs and start feasting.

Lefty (my hermit crab) is having territorial disputes with my new emerald crab.

My money is on the emerald crab.

I picked up a beautiful green & purple acan colony yesterday. Most of my other acans are primarily red, so this added a nice contrast. Here's my whole acan collection:

@SuncrestReef Outstanding acans!
You still control your rations with WXM? If so can you share your settings? I’m not sure where to start

Yes, I'm still using the WXM for my two Radion XR30 G4 Pro's. Here's a screenshot of the overall intensity, followed by one of the mid-day settings showing individual spectrums. To make it easier for you, I just saved my settings as a public scheme named SuncrestReef in Fusion, so you can just download it directly and adjust it to your liking (assuming you have the same lights). Let me know if you need instructions on how to download it.

Thank you very much for this. I will look for it under schemes. Your times and spectrum looks to be about what I was looking for to start. I’m overly excited to have the AI hydras off. Not saying there bad lights but not my cup of tea.

One last question did you raise the intensity when you installed the diffusers?
I didn’t get them so I didn’t know if I should lower the intensity

Since I installed the diffusers on day 1, I never ran the Radions without them, so I can't say how much you'll need to adjust without them. I've seen some reports that it's about a 10% hit, but I don't know for sure.

Do you have a PAR meter? If so, I can tell you my PAR readings at different depths and you could compare.

@Crabby48 I forgot to mention, I also have some advanced programming set up to simulate moon lighting. I created a virtual outlet in Apex that follows the lunar tables, then turns on some dim Radion settings only when the moon is visible at night using this profile:

Once you get your lights situated, let me know if you want details on how to do this.

No I do not have a par meter yet. I only have two clowns and a BTA. So I only have to keep the BTA happy until I get a par meter.

That is great you can run the lunar! I did run the lunar on my hydras and was bummed thinking I couldn’t with the xr30.
Thank you

For the moon lighting, follow these steps:

1. Create a virtual outlet in Apex named vMoon
2. Add this coding to the vMoon outlet:

Set OFF
If Moon 000/000 Then ON
If Time 07:00 to 21:00 Then OFF
(adjust these times to your preference for when you do NOT want the moon lighting to override your normal lighting)

3. Create a Profile in Apex named Moonlight and populate it with the Radion settings shown above in post # 488
4. In the Advanced settings for your Radion lights, add this coding:

If Output vMoon = ON Then Moonlight

5. Set the vMoon outlet to Auto.

This will cause the Radions to display dim moonlight only at night and only if the moon is actually above the horizon at that time, following the lunar tables defined on your Apex.

That was a good post. I’m not great at apex but understand from your post. It might be a while before I get around to setting up the lunar.
I switched my lights when the tank lights went off. Can’t wait to see them at lights on

Let me know if you need any Apex help. I'm pretty obsessed with mine and have some pretty cool automation set up. I also contribute a lot on the Neptune community support forums to help people out. If you haven't been there, check it out because there's a ton of useful Apex info: https://forum.neptunesystems.com/forum.php

Congrats on the new Radions!

A very nice reefer I met through our local aquarium club holds a semi-annual $10 frag sale at her house, with hundreds of frags to choose from. And calling them frags is an understatement because some are actually large colonies, but $10 per coral regardless of size. Here's what I picked up from her today:

Very nice frags with a good price.
Can you please explain what you do before introducing them to the main tank? Do you QT? If you dip them, what products you use and what is the procedure? Thanks.

Wow you picked some nice pieces. Nice to see clubs members Meeting and selling frag to spread the joy and not make profit.

I would also like to know your procedure peeping your frags for the display, if you don’t mind

I don't have a QT set up for corals, only fish (don't have appropriate lighting for corals). I just do a 15 minute dip using ReVive and closely look at the rock/plug for any eggs and scrape them off if found, then place them on a frag rack low in the tank for a few days to acclimate before placing them on the rocks.
