Question: Can I put a Plank feeder in my sump and get all of the goodies up into the DT for feeding, or so I need to put the plank on the rim of the display?

1. Will the pump do anything weird to the food, like puree the mysis/pellets? (I'm pretty sure it can't do that, just making extra sure)
2. Will the pump suck up everything or will I just end up with a massive amount of detritus in the return pump chamber?

I suppose you can put it there and a lot of it will go up to the DT, but its kind of ironic since you could have saved yourself a couple hundred bucks just getting a standard autofeeder. The whole point of the plank is to get the food reconstituted with water so it doesn’t just float to the drain and go to the sump. Since you are feeding the return you could just dump freeze dried food in there and get the same effect.

Ironic? Or I suddenly had a lobotomy and could not comprehend that the tube/sicce pump would not be submerged, rendering the whole thing quite useless?

Well, as least I got this straightened out before I got my lids without Plank cutout.

THANK YOU!!

LOL, I didn’t even think about that either. Good point!

Also, the second benefit of the Plank is their Auger dispenser, which does SO much better than the turn barrel droppers. Perhaps I'm inept (original post not working on my favor), but my Eheim is constantly jamming up with pellets that are too large and then blocking the other pellets from falling out. And I can't have it too far open or it dumps a massive amount of food. The auger pushes out a pretty steady amount of food.

Good to know. I’ve been thinking about getting one…
