Hello, I’m going to be adding a sump to my 60 gallon breeder. The dimensions of the display tank are 48”x18.5”x16.5”. I made a diy stand for it and so the amount of space I have available for the sump is 36”x14.5”. So far, the sumps I’ve found that can fit here are the Trigger Systems’ ruby 30 sump and eshopps’ rs-300. Are there any other sumps I can fit in there? If not, I’ll probably end up getting the ruby 30 sump for its fuge compartment.

As for my skimmer and return pump, which should I get? I’ll be using the pf-1000 overflow box to get water down. I’m looking at the curve 5 elite skimmer and it seems like a good choice. I’m still unsure which return pump to get but I’d prefer something on the cheaper side like Jebao. I just don’t know which model to get.

I’d also like to ask if I should run an emergency or a trickle line or just a regular line for my second line? The pf-1000 and ruby 30 sump have 2 lines and 2 inputs for tubing.

On my herbie, I run the second drain as a trickle, it is nice and quite. If you are going to run a fuge then you can run that into there. Also, maybe consider just an open tank as you sump. The sumps that I use, the only compartment is the first one, the rest is all open

I have a 48”x24” so similar dimensions just 16” wider and am running a Trigger Systems Platinum 34 because I wanted a filter roller and this one is integrated. I am using a Jebao DCP-6500 for my return pump.

Thank you all for the advice! I’ll be running a trickle line for my second line then.

I’ve been looking into the sump more and I found the Trigger Systems Crystal 36 sump. It fits perfectly because it’s 36”x14”. Now my question is if I should go for the trigger systems ruby 30 or the crystal 36? The only difference I see between the models is the color. The crystal is 6” longer and costs the same.

As for the equipment, I’ll be buying the Jebao dcp 4000 because my gph limit is 1000ghph due to the eshopps pf1000 hob overflow box I’ll be using. I’m still unsure about the skimmer. The sump’s water height for the skimmer is 9.5” fixed and so I can’t go for some skimmers like the reef octopus 150sss or 110sss. Any skimmer recommendations? I think the tank will be pretty heavily stocked in the future.

I would go with a larger pump. Those pumps you can adjust flow. You will lost a lot of flow with your plumbing. You can always get a skimmer stand to put it at the water level you need
