Hi Randy,

I'd like to try retrofitting a large Reef Octopus biopellet reactor into a sulfur reactor. I've had biopellets running for almost 6 months with no impact on nitrates, and dosing vinegar only started to make a dent at very high doses, which irritated my corals.

I would greatly appreciate help with 2 questions:
  1. Are these sulfur prills appropriate to use? The label claims 99.9% purity.
  2. Some denitrators come with a recirculating pump in addition to needing a feed pump. For example, Deltec's smallest model (https://deltecdirectusa.com/products/nf) does not have one, but their 2 larger ones do. Is this due to the chemical reaction needing more water circulation when there's more sulfur, or is it a manufacturer's design choice?
Thank you!

I've neve used one, so this is my expectation only.

1. Recirculating vs single past doesn't matter, but the flow overall through it should be fairly slow and water needs to contact the media well. The recirc pump may be to ensure of the latter.

2. 99.9% sounds fine, but the link isn't working.
