I have two that keep trying to breed. They shoot into the water at least once a day for 4 days now I've watched this, even caught a video of it. The climb on top of the rocks, near the highest peak and shoot their sperm/eggs? They are no more than 6 inches from each other and it is usually an hour or so after lights have turned on. Is this good? Will my tank get overrun? I'm guessing it won't since it looks like they are shooting out the same thing. Do I have two males? Are they hermaphrodites? But they only do it where the flow is coming in, hence it's getting spread though out my tank. I know most is probably going into my overflow and into the filter sock, but I'm curious what to expect.

I can't see the video but I don't see how it could be bad. In my experience, they are absolutely harmless and I've had hundreds of them in a small system without problems and lots of benefit. Congrats.

I made the video public, maybe that will allow people to see it? I didn't realize I had so many settings so change. I'm not sure how videos and pictures actually work here.

And thanks for the congrats, it's very exciting to see everyday, I kind of do hope for a few babies to make it, would be nice to see more diverse life other than just my regular old snails.

Whoa, thought I saw a moorish idol in that video...

I actually think that these spawning events are very good for your tank providing planktonic food if it's able to avoid filtration.

Thats cool that you caught it on camera. Like it was already stated, they are completely harmless and won't cause you any headache at all. It's like having a self replenishing cleaning crew
