Hi all just wanted to get some thoughts and opinions from everyone on my stocking list and if it will end up being to much fish and would like to know all of your opinions. I'll start off as it is a 55 gallon tank I believe 48"x13"x24". This is what I was thinking of stocking over the next six or so months, as I'm still in the cycling stage!

2 oscillaris clows
3 zebra barred dartfish
1 carpenter wrasse
1 green mandarin
1 ruby red dragonet
1 tomini tang
Cuc

I was only thinking of housing the tang until he outgrew the tank, I did choose him cuz it seems to be the smallest of the tangs and thought I would be able to house him the longest, I am up for any suggestions and or ideas, I will have a Refugiom and will plan on keeping copepods stocked up, I was thinking of only trying either the mandarin or dragonet and see how my tank could sustain a population of pods before I added the second thanks for any thoughts or suggestions!

definitely pick one or the other before you throw two pod eaters in
one thing i’m working on right now is a small above tank “fuge” which will just be a pod breeding ground with the overflow going to the display so they don’t get cut up in the pumps
i have couple types of pods, and little mysis i think zipping around my tanks that i’m gonna move some of those to the top
but other than that i’d be careful with the clowns and do them later if for sure a pair of them
i’ve had aggression issues with them and many others too

Okay I was going to add them first so I'm glad I posted on here! Maybe I'll add them at the end then and start with the three dartfish or do you think that will be to many fish to add to my tank right off the bat?? And yes I'll only do one pod eater till I see how my tank can handle it. Other than that do you think that's about the right amount of fish for a 55?? Thanks

Well, you're gonna want to add fish in docile first and aggressive last. However, you've got an exception to the rule in there. I'd do the dartfish first, then the wrasse, the clowns, then the tang (if you want to deal with rehoming, which IMO is required eventually). The Mandarin I'd add when the tank is about a year old. They need stability. And I'd keep only one dragonet They can exhibit aggressive behavior towards each other. Although you may have some success with a paired unit.

That sounds like a good order to me, maybe I'll just go with a spotted mandarin in a year or so down the road as they seem to be a little easier to keep at least what I am reading. Do you have any suggestions for another algae eater instead of the tang? I know someone with a 125g where I could eventually rehome the tang and that's what I'd do when the time came if there are no other options. Also could I keep either a blenny or goby instead of two dragonets like I mentioned above, just one dragonet and one either blenny/goby. I have a sand bed of roughly two inches maybe three in spots, thanks for the info and help!
