I have my 125 gallon tank up and running and I’m really excited about it. Looking for stock ideas (it will eventually be a reef tank it’s Fowler at the moment)

I have
Two clowns
1 sailfin tang
1 lawnmower blenny

Goals:
I want two more tangs
(Yellow?)
And maybe a few anthias or cardinal fish… totaling maybe 12 fish total?
Maybe 6 line wrasse or other maintenance fish?

Anyone have any suggestions. See glaring errors or incompatibility ?

yellow tang and tomini tang for the additional tangs
you can add a different utility wrasse. 6line would get "lost" in that 125 within the rock work, or end up being a bully. yellow wrasse, melanurus wrasse are great options
the rest could be anthias or other free-swimming/active fish.

How big is the sail fin? Might have an issue adding a yellow if its huge since the yellows from biota come tiny! In my 125 before I upgraded to a 300 I had 3 tangs, a regal angel, a harem of 5 anthias, 2 triggers, 2 eels and a dwarf lionfish if that helps! All got along save for a few terrors that I removed (french angel, Powder blue tang, trigger) lol

Nice. Thoughts on banggai’s? I don’t like regular cardinal fish. They’re so listless and the eyes throw me off

I love mine! Fun to watch since they just seem to glide through the water

from what i've seen, they're don't swim much, but "hover" a lot. also you can get a school, but just like cardinals may pick each other off until you have 2-3 left.

I will never not reccomend a rabbitfish for a larger tank :)

Okay, so I went with tomini tang, yellow tang, and sailfin tang. I have a helfirich fire fish, two clowns, and a lawnmower blenny.

I’m kinda leaning towards square back anthias (3) and maybe a filefish. I imagine I’m getting close to maxing out the tank with fish?

Interesting! So like I had said I went with sailfin, yellow, and Tomini. I mean I’ll consider it pure luck because I got each at juvenile size (2”) with the Tomini at 2.5” and when I dropped both of the new tangs in the sailfin minimally harassed both fish.

That said that morning I had gutted the entire rockwork and changed up my sailfins territory. What really weirds me out is that all three now swim with each other like bffs… which I thought they don’t do but seriously they like hide in the same caves and group together. Odd.

I’m pretty sure I’ll be going with anthias (square back) and a wrasse. Maybe I’ll throw in a filefish for good measure but everyone seems happy. Coral will be the next step once I’m loaded up. I have a Red Sea reefer skimmer 600 so, it is oversized for the tank and can handle a heavy load. Maybe I can go more fish. Not sure. Not educated enough to know but anthias I’ll get 3-5 total.
