That’s valid on the wrasse or foxface gang haha. I guess it’s because I have never kept any of the big tangs and my kids love them. But that being said I’m not opposed to other options.
I agree, tangs is what my 300 gallon will predominately be ! Beautiful. I like your list!! Especially the naso. Nasos are beautiful!!

So getting closer to the tank being wet. Wanting to finalize stocking plans. Had a hiccup with my list a few weeks ago. My fairy wrasse went carpet surfing and the long nose developed itch after my ac went out for a week and struggled to keep temps down. All other fish have not shown any inch spots.

Current stock:
Clown pair
Cherub angel
Adorned wrasse
One spot foxface
Scopas tang

Future stock:
Naso tang
Blue tang
Desjardinni sailfin tang (+/-)
Convict tang

Looking for some smaller filler fish to round out the list. Maybe a couple wrasses? Toying with a second Pygmy angel. Or even larger fish to go with the plan. Thanks for the input.

Can't go wrong with wrasses and tilefish.

Since I have decided against the angels I am really considering a harlequin tusk. Have always been my favorite fish. Aside from eating all the CUC, anyone have any experience with one in a reef?

When I had corals mine ever messed with them. She loved to hunt my hermits though

Didn’t take out all your snails as well?
No, I dont usually put snails in my tanks other than the big turbos. I like to use a sea hare for algae control cause I think they are cute little creatures lol

I would say theres a different risk if you factor corals since tusk are fairly greedy feeders and would consider moving small frags to find worms/inverts to eat.

A greatly mitigated risk if well fed though and overall safer with a bigger variety of corals than angels from experience (main safe ones for angels are stinging/hard corals)

Forgot to add that I strongly suggest adding a tusk very early on regardless of size.
Contrary to their looks, they're docile to other non tusk and are even bullied often by other tank mates (they don't handle stress well in the beginning)

I plan on adding it first when the tank gets running and the other stock is moved over to the big tank.

Got the new system up and running, finally. Question. I have a pair of existing clowns that moved to the new tank. I have another pair of clowns in a small tank that I have been keeping for my daughter’s school. Anyway, the school doesn’t want to set the tank back up. Could I add that pair to the 8’ 240 with an existing pair? I just added all the fish two days ago so territories have not been established.

I would think in a tank that long the territories would be spread out enough. I could be way wrong on that point though.
Yeah I thought so too but the general consensus was it wasnt a good idea! Clowns will be clowns
