Steel tank stand

Hey, I plan on building a tank stand for my fish tank with the frame being made out of steel. It's readily available and I'm a fabricator by trade so it's easier then wood. The tank 460x1200x600mm 600mm being the depth . I think it holds roughly 320 litres. So all up I expect the weight to be about 500kg at maximum my question is would a frame built of 40x3mm square hollow section steel be able to support this weight. I plan a basic rectangle with diagonal cross bracing on the sides and back and to wrap it wood. I have a roughly 20mm piece of wood for the top. Please excuse the roughness of my sketch and the metric measurements, I am posting from the sticks in northern Western australia.

I want to say yes, that looks more than sturdy enough, but as a fabricator wouldn't you know better than us peons :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

yes, that tube will be plenty strong enough if your welds are good.

you can get rid of the diagonals by adding 45 degree plates at the corners......just a thought.
Kinda like these:

I was thinking when I looking at it the side diagonals might be a bit much for over that length but some gussets could definitely do the trick instead. Maybe some 5 mm plate I think the closest would be 1/4 plate in your measurements
