Well darn. Until you mentions color change. I run poly in my sock to catch extra materials. I did not realize it was specific to a special material. “Just learned something new today”. Having one shipped now. Won’t hurt at this point. Sps just keep dying. It has slowed but definitely not stopped. The strongest are now failing. And the brown outs are losing flesh slower.

Polyfilter brand pads are much different than polyester fiber filter medium, if that is what you were running.

Polyfilter brand pads are coated in a type of resin that pulls heavy metals, medications and toxins from the water.

I find it odd that my Montipora plating, encrusting, branching are all doing well and growing. I broke a piece off of one and it has actually healed itself during this acropora crash event.

It might not have shown anything if it was some kind of plastic toxin.

I’d recommend doing a couple of very large water changes once everything has stopped dying just to make sure the possible toxin is really out of the system or at least so diluted it won’t be toxic.

Get all the levels stable again.

Then it’s time to go shopping!

I have done 6 15% water changes so far. 2 the first day and 1 everyday since. Do 7th today. Just keep it going till something, if anything, that is brown recovers or all melts. Then a few more.

Sounds like a plan. As good anything I can come up with. Who knows? At least it's slowing down for you. That's something.

This birdsnest has doubled its loss since this morning. As sad as it is making me. The pure white if the skeleton is beautiful in a way you can not capture in a photo. Makes me nuts

15% water changes are pretty small though, you're not really diluting things enough; but if that's all you can do at a time then it's better than nothing.

I just bought a 44 gallon brute today. Will be setting up to do a large water change for now and future “oh sugar snap” moments. This should be roughly a 40% water change.

I still don’t understand how whatever event caused the problem only killed my acropora. Montipora and all other life unaffected that I can see. If it was toxic from the heater I believe it would kill all life especially fragile invertebrates. I realize acropora have a history of being the most fragile corals. But it almost seems like it is a disease spreading from one frag to another. I attribute to the least hardy coral to the most. But, it doesn’t add up to me.

Recession stopped last week. The few acropora parts that made it are regaining color. Out of 19 acropora frags and colonies Variations. I have 8 frag size pcs that made it through. Some went in an emergency 10 gallon. Honestly wish I would have put more in 10 gallon. It stressed those corals but it helped a few survive. Sent out an ATI water kit over 2 weeks ago. Still waiting on results (is that normal?).
Tank today after rock Cleaning (put rocks in cryptic Fuge). Self cleaning in dark.
