Sorry if this has already been beaten to death. 24k Gold Torch. Really blue tips?

A while back I purchased two heads of what the seller claims was 24k Gold Torch, but under T5 lighting the tips are not blue. Under blue LEDs the tips appear blue. Is there a torch out there that really has blue tips and not one that appears blue under blue LEDs only.

I think there are, but I don't own one. I hate trying to buy stuff on line because of these challenges, and even in person some LFS lights add colors that don't show up in my lighting.

Are the two corals in the middle Sun God Torches? When I bought them, they had a bright yellow color with light blue and blue tips. However, they seem to have faded a bit recently. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Thanks!

What you are describing is a common phenomenon. From the pictures I don't believe you were mislead. To answer your questions, yes, there are some torches that have blue tips under more daylight conditions but this is rare and usually requires some amount of blue light. In the picture below, the yellow torch upfront has purple tips. The bright neon green torch behind it has light blue tips under a mix of white and blue light which is what I prefer. If I cranked up the blue I can turn the purple tips neon blue. Interestingly, the neon green torch looks pretty much the same under pure blue light.

My bad in coming across as if I was upset with my purchase. I am not. The torch looks great in my tank so no problem there. I was just wondering if all the pictures of blue tipped torches are really a function of lighting.

On a separate note, once upon a time I could take decent photos, but lately my old camera just doesn't cut it so I was wondering what you used to produce the photo above. It's very clear and well balanced color wise. Obviously my technique of using a filter on an iPhone just doesn't come close.

The photos were produced using an iPhone 13 Pro Max and an Orphek orange filter lens from Amazon. In addition to the tank lights I turned on the lights in the hallway lights the tank sits in. I sometimes just use the default Photo setting on the iPhone and sometimes go into Portrait mode and see which looks nicer.
