Like my post suggests, I have recently been thinking of a way to temporarily cover some spots of hair algae on live rock in my tank to smother out the algae. Obviously two part epoxy would work, but it would be way too hard to get back off the rock after it hardens. Something with more of a consistency of silly putty but safe would be perfect. Anyone have any ideas?

Did hydrogen peroxide work for you? I will read up on squirting directly into the tank. I’ve done dips before and they worked. I’ve only got a few spots of green hair algae but I want to get ahead of it before it takes over! Was thinking about making thin “blankets” of 2 part epoxy to put over the GHA until it dies from no light. Almost like using a rolling pin to make thin flat sheets to “smother” the GHA.

Maybe turn the rock upside down? Or put another rock on top?

Can you post a pic to show what you mean?

Turbo snails love hair algae.

I use it on frag plugs for gha. Squirt it on then take a brush to it after it soaks for a few minutes. The tank I have a gha problem is beyond peroxide. This is from last night's cleaning.
