People think that photography is all about an expensive camera and a little know how. These photos show that its all about the talent of the photographer. I wish I had the eye and talent for it! Impressive work!

Chris, you obviously understand lighting, those are really nice photos! yes, it does take more than an expensive camera to make take nice photo's, you definitely have to have the eye and use the lighting and that's not easy to do

Ok, i'm selling my camera....after seeing those I now realize I'm an insult to photography ;)

Seriously though...beautiful, just amazing. It's photos like this that show photography IS an art.

So is that your only/main source of income? Is wedding photography potentially lucrative? I don't mean get rich but be able to make a living? I am just curious. I would love to be able to take up photography as a career but the opportunities are so limited. I know there are a bunch of factors that contribute to the answers to my questions but just wondering how it is for you in your area.

I make about 35-40% of my total income from Wedding photography. If I were single, and did not need health insurance for my family, I am sure I could make that number increase.

It becomes a catch 22, you will do more if you don't have a 40 hour a week job, but you can't risk losing the insurance to have more time for photography.

Thanks everyone for the compliments! Wedding photography is my sole source of income (about 90%). I do conferences and corporate stuff as well. It has been VERY profitable for me and I see the company growing even larger next year despite the economic hardship we are all facing. I love and live it. I couldn't see myself doing anything else.

I have decent equipment. What does it take to get the extreme blur in the background? I can make it happen every so often but its just by chance.

shallow depth of field, and focusing on he right point. Not easy to do in the way Chris did it, especially not on the fly, as im sure he didnt have a half hour to get the shot.

Thanks Guys!

Junior is right. A difficult, but not impossible shot. It's all about anticipation and timing. I knew the priest was going to hold the rings in the air. What I didn't know was where he would hold them, how he would hold them, and if he was going to move his hand. I took the first shot as soon as it came into view and another 5 seconds after. I was already at f2.8 so it was just a matter of framing and shooting at the right moment.
