Unsure of where to post within a forum..
What snails are recommended for tanks? As a good CUC.
What snails eat hair algae?
I have been trying to find more trochus snails as they can flip themselves over, but I haven't found any the last few months. I have 4 and they basically stay on the back of my tank.
I have MAYBE 6-8 bumble snails (they can flip themselves too) but yes they are TINY... and my pink speckled goby likes to pile them by his spot so I feel like they don't really accomplish much.
A bit of history here, I use to have all kinds of snails, margarita, nerite, astrea, but they'd all fall down the back of the tank and I stopped flipping then over everyday. That's why I look for ones that can flip themselves. I had a whole snail shell graveyard, granted my hermits have taken over a lot of them.
About a week ago I got a single margarita snail, he's been everywhere and leaving his marks on the front glass, my history of snails they barely touch the front. Did I get lucky with this tiny baby margarita or did I fluke out with the others?
I also picked up a turbo snail (with the margarita) and though he has made a round around some rocks, he's on the back of the tank too.
I personally have a weird Obsession with snails. I love them.
