Having the hardest time finding ANY answers online, hoping someone can shed some light on this.

One of my snails has developed these tiny pinholes all over it’s shell, as if someone took a needle and poked it a bunch of times, and I have noticed some are getting larger over time.

Its not KH or pH related, as my KH is 10.1 and pH 8.5.

An empty shell in the tank is showing the same symptoms, but none of my other snails are. Very confused on what is causing it, I haven’t noticed anything attached to the shell.

Best pics I can get at the moment

The holes are unfortunately still there, and I haven’t had any luck finding answers so far
Just kind of thinking out loud here (not expecting to be right), but maybe some sort of tiny, boring critter like a boring worm or something?

You could theoretically at least check for these with a microscope.

This is the only conclusion I’ve come to as well! A microscope is on the top of my to-buy list haha, definitely need one on hand.
