Small Predator tank build

So I've wanted a valiente puffer and a drawf fuzzy lion fish since day one. However I was content with not getting them since My inverts and smaller fish would become food.

$1 per gallon to the rescue!

Snagged a 40b at pet supply plus with this in mind. So I already have two bags of live sand, I have my t5 fixture from the 72 after upgrading to the ORs. All I had to get was some rock, (picked some up, about 30 lbs).

Now I just have to figure out the plumbing for the 16gallon I'll be using as a sump.

I have a hob overflow from eshops but it's rated as a nano 200gph. Considering drilling and getting a larger overflow but not sure yet.

Have also considered just a hob filter with a hob skimmer.

Suggestions welcome.

It's a predator tank! I come from no past experience with HOB skimmers but I think it'd work fine as long as the skimmer is rated for it! I've always been interested in setting up a predator tank and would love to know if this works out.

Worked on some scape today, I'm pretty sure I have the flu at the moment so I worked with the rock from time to time today here's some of what I came up with...

The Hunchback Wolf

Small Bonsi

Twin Peaks

Leaning Tower of Ibiza

Drunken Pac-Man

And my personal fav cause it looks like a dragon once I add some rubble to simulate claws...

Dragon or bonsai. Give the fuzzy a place to perch upside down.
HOB will work if rated for it, just keel up on water quality as they are both messy eaters.

Also just a word of warning. Puffers and lions generally don't mix as the puffers like to nip at the fins of lions.

Hehe, when I bought that rock I sat down in the store and made sure each one had at least one point where one of the other rocks would connect to it well... In effect picking the best ones out of the bin. There was quite a few rocks that didn't make the cut.

Luckily I'm a regular there so I didn't even get any odd looks.

I like the bonsi as wel but can't stand up to the dragon lol
