My father in law is setting up a 125 display gallon tank on the middle floor. Is going to run 2 sumps (50 each in the basement). There's 10' of distance to travel from the basement back to the display.

What GPH return pump range will he need? It'll be a fish only tank.

Is there a calc as well around height being pumped and what you lose each foot?

Pump dependent. On a big Tunze like the 1073.110 pro, it looks like about a 2/3rds drop in rating at 10' of head. So the 2900gph pump becomes 1000gph and not counting for elbows and other restrictions.

I'm sure others can recommend a specific pump.
