Should my corals be allowed to grow as they please?

I have a piece that, while not causing problems, is overtaking its space pretty quickly. While it is by far the largest piece in my tank, started from a plug with 2 or 3 heads, it is pretty dull to look at compared to most of my other corals. I am thinking of removing it entirely to make space for some other pieces that I have that are waiting for me to get around to placing.

Anyone want this guy? Or some of it?

Took me awhile to try again. I lost 10 heads of a hammer coral to a very aggressive hammer coral. He demands respect.

I was tempted to see if it was random infection or hammer on hammer violence. I lost 1 out of 3 heads 1 is recovering.

Should you let things be? Up to you. Understand what can happen and decide if you want to keep peace or let there be war.

I may rehome that yellow tip hammer. Or just let him have his very own rock.

Top hammer is the murderer. Pink hammer is the victim.

In my experience, you have to do some pruning or you will end up with a few dominant varieties that just overrun everything.

My Anthelia definitely grows like a weed. Any other coral I'm fine with taking over. I like Xenia and GSP so I don't mind those growing big
I really was thinking about experimenting with some GSP or another fast grower once I have my others a little more established!

@Dad2Wyatt I believe it is a Palythoa of some kind. If there is one of those fancy "breeder" names for it, I have no idea what it is...

Edit: If I had to name it, I would call it "Dull Brown Weed" lol jk

Do you have any photos of your set up? Trying to get all of the motivation I can!
I actually looked to find photos and realized I hadn't taken any full tank shots in over a year. So here's what it looks like today. The amazing thing is that 80% of the corals have been moved from 2 years ago. I'd say that most of the corals will stay where they are for the long haul but you never know! Actually, I think a few are ready to either be moved or significantly chopped (e.g., Oregon tort needs massive trimming). Included a shot of my lagoon which is mostly LPS and softies.
