I was wondering myself. I have a ton of them that sprang up from nowhere.

IME, when you see a sudden explosion in their population, it usually means something is out of whack. Same for asterina explosions.

I actually had an issue with these tiny snails, they kept crawling into the wetside of my MP60, causing it to make a slight grinding noise. I recently introduced a wrasse and no longer seem to have this problem.

I read a magazine that i picked up from Macna 2010 that mentioned mandarin gobies have a set of crushing jaws in the back of their throats that allow them to eat tiny snails. So this might help in the control of the population.

I would have to disagree. I've always had these snails in abundance and have never had an issue with my tank parameters. All it really means is that there's no nature predator to keep them in check, thats all. They're great scavengers and don't cause any problems to the fish/coral. Once my lights turns off, I have literally hundreds upon hundreds of them start making there way up the glass. It's actually pretty fascinating to watch.

I agree with this. I've always had these guys in my tanks. Its crazy to grab a flashlight at night to see hundreds of them roaming the tank and then, by morning, they have all disappeared. I used to have so many I'd have to clean little snail shells on my tank molding when they'd climb too high, haha
