nice little set up, rics would be a much more cost effective and essentially the same presentation since it is a child you're buying for not the advanced hobbyist. plus with some of those Florida orange and pinks they'll glow nicely under the LEDs

that i do not know, but i would assume they could since i've seen clown fish in more than just anemones, ive seen them in torch corals, frog spawn, and duncans , so it is entirely possible and i don't think either would pose a threat to the other. rics are similar to the normal mushrooms and my inverts walk all over them with no prob

i myself would love to have them but im pretty sure if it walked by the goby/pistol lair it would not fare so well being my goby could eat it whole, plus my LFS sells them for like $16-18 a pop

geez thats way too much, i got mine from FISH AND OTHER ICHTHY STUFF for 10$.. i read somwhere that these guys if not fed enough will start eating zoa polyps and have been known in the wild if it is a big group to consume a whole host anemone.. i also read that they will host alot of corals (mushrooms, gsp, clove polyps)...

this pump just doesnt seem like enough filtration, but it does have enough current and is very quiet.. might put some mangroves and some red garcillaria to help filter out chemicals/toxins..

so she likes the sexy shrimp but i love them more so im going to put like 5 or 6 in my tank, so we decided to do a mini zoa and mushroom reef...

i got the white live sand and liverock and a heater a couple weeks ago, and gave her my nemo a cleaner shrimp and a couple of blue legs..but last week i added some red garcilaria and a mangrove shoot and a lil kenya tree hopefully they keep the nitrate and phosphate levels down..
but we will see, she wants a red/purple/pink tank so i added some zoas and mushrooms to give it some color. =]

unknown pinks (can never take a good picture of pink zoas?)

very very nice, i remember you asking about pom poms, this months CORAL has a great write up on boxer crabs, which mainly feature the pom pom and the teddy bear crabs... not that you need them now... the tank looks great well done, maybe you can put your baby pistol in there if hasn't already met his maker haha, however he will probably bury everything so maybe not a good idea

Be careful, mixing Sexy Shrimp with Zoanthids. When we set up Angie's 24 gallon Aquapod, the primary life she wanted was: Sexy Shrimp, Zoanthids, Tailspot Blenny.

We did a lot of research and read about the possibility of Sexy Shrimp destroying Zoanthids. However, there wasn't enough "evidence" to deter us. Well, after loosing MANY very nice colonies of Zoanthids, some very high end, to the Sexy Shrimp, and actually witnessing the shrimp destroying Zoanthids, we finally removed all of the sexy shrimp. Now, Zoanthids are thriving!!

It was a difficult decision to make, because she really loved the Sexy Shrimp. We kept them very well fed, so I know it wasn't an issue with them being "hungry," as some have suggested. Zoanthids won out, in the end, with our decision making.

thanks bro, havent moved it to her house yet.. i have the lil pistol sitting infront of the tank but ive thought about it and eventually he will kill the cleaner shrimp or somthin like that and it will just be a hassle.. did u pick up a pom pom yet?

thats scary because my tank is mainly filled with zoanthids.. ive read about them consuming their anemones, but never zoanthids... but ive seen hermits eating them so i wouldnt put it past any shrimp.. i would of suggested they werent fed enough but like you said they were well fed, how many sexy's did you have in there?

We had 6 shrimp, in a 24 Aquapod. Before getting them, I did a whole lot of reading. There was actually a lot of people, who'd experienced Sexy Shrimp destroying Zoanthids. Then, there were people who'd had no issues at all. Some theorized that it had to do with how well the Sexy Shrimp were fed. So, I figured we'd try it out. Our shrimp hung out on our Frogspawn and on our Zoanthids. I'd actually spot feed the shrimp, while they were in the Frogspawn. They'd all eat, directly from the turkey baster, every day.

It's really too bad that they're so hard on Zoanthids because they're amazing creatures. We really enjoyed watching them. I'll warn you, if you have issues with them, and need to remove them, though they seem like they'd be easy to catch, THEY ARE NOT!!! lol. I had to dismantle most of our live rock, in order to capture them all!

lol thanks for the info ill definitely do some more research... but yea i realized that at FAOIS, lol but i watched how the guy did it the second time when i bought 2.. he would put the net in front of them, trap them in a corner and scare them with his other hand into the net(i guess they must have poor eyesight). i havent seen him doing anything yet but he always traveling all over the tank, if he isnt hanging on to the side of my small RBTA. hopefully nothing happens maybe ill just get one more and maybe some other inverts or somthing..

i have not picked up a pom pom yet as i cannot EVER find one at any of our LFS. im very hesitant to get one shipped so im still on the hunt, also last months CORAL had a good write up on the different "nano" shrimp the sexy was listed and they said it was commensal but im not sure since so many have had problems with them. if you have a chance you should check out the article its pretty good and talks about a lot of other small beautiful shrimp
