As a few of you may know, over the past year or so my tank has gone down hill due to one mishap after another (alk too high, alk too low, Ca too high, Ca too low, temp probe malfunction, lights tripped GFI- off for a week, etc). I've lost nearly all my corals, although the fish are fine. I've decided to sell everything. We expect to move in the next 4-5 years, so I don't plan to restart until after we've moved and I've retired. I've made a list of everything for sale- it's a pretty long list. Some of the things will have to stay for awhile. Those I've marked with a "+". Some will have to wait until the tank itself is ready to come down. I've marked those with an "*". Everthing else can go now, although I'm not in a great hurry. I've priced things at about half of new to start, a bit more if unused and a bit less if showing some wear.

I read my post again and I'm not sure it was clear. I'm asking $75 each. They were almost $200 each originally. All of the prices are "each" escept the clowns, which I'd prefer to sell as a pair.

If that was your understanding, then they're yours. One of the tubs is empty right now. The other won't be empty until I get rid of some live rock.

I've gotten a couple of requests for shipping items. I will not ship any livestock. For dry goods, I'll only ship small items. If things haven't sold after a few months maybe I'll reconsider, but for now that's my policy.

We will miss you in the hobby. Your tank was that of legends around here. What happened to call it quits?

I suspect that I have more than 50lb, although I could probably find a place for some of it. It's laid out in the tub in a single layer with space around all the rocks. It's in near darkness so it's had the effect of "cooking" it. The live rock tends to have a lot of sponges and some small tube worms, but little algae of any kind. You probably won't see many pods as they were a casualty of the alkalinity fluctuations.

We will miss you in the hobby. Your tank was that of legends around here. What happened to call it quits?

I went into a little of that in the first post. Here are a few examples.
I mixed up a new batch of calcium chloride for the 2-part doser. I turned the doser to "on" to fill the line and forgot to turn it to "run". It dosed the entire 6 gal of CaCl2. Not only did that drive the calcium sky high, but the alkalinity plummeted. It took quite a few major water changes to correct that, but some corals had died along with all the urchins.
Later, I mixed up a new batch of sodium carbonate. I thought I had it mixed the same strength as usual, but it was apparently more concentrated. That time the alkalinity went too high and the calcium plummeted.
Not all of the problems were human error.
The Aquacontroller pH probe malfunctioned (essentially died) and the controller was calling for heat even though the temp was 84 deg. It was only when I stuck my hand in the water that I knew something wasn't right.

Every time I would correct one problem something else would go wrong. I found that the more things died, the worse the tank would look and the less I wanted to look at it. As a result, I wouldn't catch problems as early as I should have and it just cycled downward. It's been pretty stable for a few months now though, as I considered whether to keep it or not. I just can't even think about starting over now.

Wow so sorry to hear that Al. I always loved your tank and fishroom.

I'm looking for around 15-20lbs of live rock to set up my nano.
I can come right away.

Is the Fulham ballast the Fulham workhorse 7 ballast? I am interested in this. Also have sent you a PM as well about other things we been discussing!
