Looking to sell an up and running 90-gallon aquarium. What would be a starting point to ask.

Do you have a picture of the entire tank? What about specifics on equipment? Also the age of everything can help determine value

Its tough to answer without knowing your market. I would try looking at facebook marketplace in your area to get an idea of what other people are asking for their setups. In my area, there are a lot of tank setups for sale and they aren't selling. Not sure how much you paid for everything, but I would expect to take a pretty big loss if you want to sell quickly.

It doesn't have to sell quick. I was wondering at a price starting point and just let that price stay till I get a bite.

I'd start with half of retail obtainable from LFS for tank and rest off the internet. Used anything tends to sell around half although pool tables and fish tanks might be harder to sell due to size of item or fact it's easier to start from scratch then moving an established tank. Piecemeal selling likely more profitable although considerably more effort needed.

Doesn't appear you have livestock and having a tank full of water easier to portray it doesn't leak therefore perhaps explain that when selling. Personally not interested in entire tank transfers nor do others always have exactly what I need.

Parted out will be easier because some might just need a sump or skimmer and more likely to pay for individual pieces more than if part of a package plus once all components sold then one could just dump the main tank for less and still come out the same financially.

Another option is working with an LFS who might assist in selling if one is upgrading.

Half would probably be best case scenario. Age depending I'd expect about a third of costs and be happy.
