I actually don't mind checking mag, I use Salifert. I've also used Red Sea and got similar results.
You could try carbon dosing like @tbrown and me. It has helped keep things under control and I think it also helps feed corals.

Are you interested in baking the baking soda to soda ash? I have a few links in this post about it. Unless you have high pH issues I would bake the baking soda.

How longs it baked for?
595 grams of baking soda @400 for an hour or 2. You can't overbake it. You can stir it once or twice to make sure to get it all.How longs it baked for?
