I have tons of life rock that have been in my tank since 2019, (case of base, shelf and shapes) that have several pieces now covered with green implosion palys. I would like to take a few rocks out at a time and clean them, kill the implosions and add back to the tank. What is the best approach for this? I know I have to be careful with possible palytoxin also.
Can the rock be laid out in the sun in an area not to be disturbed for a month and then rinsed and added back. If I do a little at a time as to not cause a cycle?

Option 1 set in in the sun for a week, scrub it really good
Option 2 put it is a spare Rubbermaid trash can with filtration and zero light with regular water changes

Either option should minimize a spike

I'd pull the rock, remove the palys and then scrub the rock where they were with a toothbrush dipped in peroxide. Rinse in old tank water and put back in the tank. Of course, wear gloves, eye protection if desired face protection.

You could do as Harpo mentioned as well.
It would not cause a cycle, if it does anything it would be a slight ammonia spike from left over organics.
