I have had this regal almost a week and wanted to get Regal pros opinion on it. It looks like it will eat off of the ground, still shy. I also see it pick at the algae in the tank. Here is a video. Thanks.

It's not a skinny fish but it does look stressed. Does this fish feed directly in the water column? I have no idea how mature your tank is but it looks like the rock is lacking natural food sources for a fish like this.

I have been feeding mysis shrimp and bring shrimp with garlic an the silicon vitamin. Just starting yesterday I have put clams in a half shell in and it really likes them. It also eats algae off rocks.

I chocked it up to him being new to the tanks. He comes out a more now and has been in 10 days now. I have had the tank a year now with water in it, this is also when I did the cycle. May I finished the plumbing, was waiting on the sump. 1.5 months ago I added 3 shrimp with a Regal. It did not make it cause the trip was to much. This one doing a lot better. It's only eats off the rocks, the clams he eats out of on the bottom and will pick stuff off bottom. The rocks really hit a big ugly phase.

How long has this tank been set up for?

June is a year, had water in it and also did the cycle. May finished the plumbing with the sump. 6 weeks ago I added 3 cleaner shrimp with the Regal. That one did not make it cause the trip was rough an a shrimp got caught in a wave pump. This one has been in 10 days with 2 more cleaner shrimp three anemones and a extra ugly phase.

What is the length of the fish? Shorter ones are always a bit thinner.

A pinched belly just indicates short term food deficiency - the nape (behind the eyes on the back) is where fish show signs of long term starvation. This one is a bit thin there, but that’s to be expected for one that’s just come through a long supply chain with no real opportunity to feed.

That said, providing adequate nutrition is the number one problem with this species in captivity.

I'd say 4 to 5 inch a read sea Regal.
I just got some good tips on food and a couple days ago I gave it a live clam from the store where it kept picking at it, now I order some more clams. Today I did some extra shrimp for the anemone an gave it some.
It does come out more still a little skittish an will hide in his hole if it feels that way. Still think it could be it is new
