Following along! Tank is coming a long nicely! I'm digging the drumset and pretty sure I saw a fender jazz or P bass in a reflection. How great to have a reef in your music room!
Thanks man! Yeah my son and I like to jam down here! Him on the guitar and me on the drums, but sometimes we’ll switch up. You’re correct on the bass although it’s a Squier…got it for my other son last year but he hasn’t taken to it yet lol. I am concerned about the noise once I have fish and we play. Any thoughts on that would be appreciated.
I recognize that Buckees beaver! I’m originally from TX

Let the cycle begin!
120ml of Algae Barn’s Nitrocycle and two bottles of FRITZyme Turbostart 900. And a gallon of ceramic bio media. I’ll get another half gallon in the upcoming week for the other two baskets.

Today is the first day I’ve tested. Ammonia is about 0.5ppm.
I also added a couple more small arches to the base of the big arch so there’s more of a cave. I didn’t want to add to the rock structure but I felt it needed a better place for fish to hide.

Getting there! A week later and ammonia looks pretty low. I’ll keep a close eye on it over the next couple of days but I’m already planning the first inhabitants.
I really want a couple of Watanabei Angels

And a celebratory drink in my new Japanese whiskey glass.

Note that this was Saturday night. Not Sunday morning before church at time of posting the update hahahaha

This past week I also had an electrician out to do some work around the house. In addition, he isolated the aquarium on its own breaker and added an outlet in the ceiling so I can run the lights from there, keeping the back wall free of wires.

The GHL has been up and running maybe a week. It took a lot of help to get it connected to WiFi etc but we got it done. Bean Animal, Lasse, and Ditto were instrumental in getting this thing set up. At one point I was strongly considering going to hydros due to my difficulties, but I am glad I didn’t do that.

Nitrites were zero yesterday morning so now I have to get NO3 down, and plan on using Prime.
The skimmer had been going over a week and it still wants to overflow if I don’t raise it up so I need to figure out what’s going on there.
A couple of pics of the GHL and probes below…I need to do a little house keeping under the GHL but I haven’t decided where I’m going to place dosing containers.

I added 4 bottles of ARCs Coralline in a Bottle a couple of days ago. I used this in my other tank and it’s really taking off.
Might go dormant at least until I get my lights hung. I wanted to get it established in the system though, so it will be ready to take off once conditions are right

Ok I learned a little about prime. It’s not the product I thought it was. Here’s nitrates after adding prime.

And the first of two about 50% water changes should take care of that.

PO4 .11 so I’ll deal with that as well.

I love watching the wrasse swim in and out of the caves I made! Pretty cool!

My other tank is a Red Sea Reefer 250 and I have a blue hippo, coral beauty, black storm clown, and a blue eye kole tang left to transfer. And various corals as well.

Nitrate and phosphate numbers a couple of days after the big water change. About where I expected phosphate to land but nitrate is higher than expected. At any rate, I decided to start carbon dosing with Tropic Marin Elimi NP. Hopefully that will get me where I need to be and then switch over to Bacto Balance
