Ok so i bought a 3 year old Reefer 350 off market place. Ive decided on a Red Sea Skimmer 300, I went with the Neptune COR 20 pump. I currently have approx 70 lbs of live rock soaking in bleach. And 40 pounds of live sand waiting. I set up my RO/DI System. My biggest question is lighting on this set up. I think I’ve decided my budget for lights will be my biggest expsense. I plan on mixed reef with SPS.

Reefer 350 I have same tank but white, love it…. Tagging along to see your progress
So far so good can’t wait to get this thing wet. Prob another two weeks before i get water in it. I saved about 2k buying used so I’m prepared to spend a little more on equipment. I was originally looking at the REEF90x2 lights. The more I reseach I’m either going with 3 XR15s or 2 XR30’s. The XRs are a lot more but it seems they are a fav light of most people.

I originally wanted radions too but went the cheap route and eventually finished up going hybrid but that’s because I’ve always had great luck with G5’s on my sticks Several people I know that have sps dominant tanks run radions but also supplement with Orphek light bars or reefbrites

I have 2 XR15 G5 on my XL300 tank. I have to run them at 100% intensity to get 350 par at the top of the tank for my SPS. You will be much better off with the 30s running lower intensity overall.
