I will try to update this thread monthly for some that follow this thread and not my tank thread. a few things have changed since the Spotlight. got rid of a few fishes: Carpenter's, a clown, an Azure Damsel, and Chevron Tang. added a pair of Banggai cardinals, a pair of Mandarin's, SA Onxy clown, and Majestic angel.

01-03-2013: A bunch of updates....

Majestic Angel continues to do well. Still a bit shy from sudden moves but comes out right away so getting better by the week.

we can't go without posting pics of clowns now, right?

these trio of clowns were brought home on 09-14-2012, so it's almost 4 months since then. the White eyed Platinum has gotten the biggest (about 1.25"). the (2) Top shelf Picasso's are around 1" and have developed their black pretty good. All 3 are close to 9 months old.

this Top shelf Picasso was added on 04-28-2012. I don't have a pic of him but I do have a vid with his brother (Fu Man Chu) when I brought them home. I'd say this one has developed some nice black as well. he is approximately 13 months old and approx 1.5". :)

01-03-2013 UPDATE continuation....

lastly... these ones have been with me since 1st or 2nd week of Dec 2011, they are approximately 17 months old. 1st one is SPARTAN, a top 3 on my favorite Picasso's. he doesn't get to hang out in the BTA's but can pretty much roam around the whole tank as long as he doesn't get too close to the BTA's. he's approximately 1.5". 2nd one is FRECKLES, another on the top 3 favorite Picasso. he has a dot on the other side so I named him Freckles. he hangs out and guard the right BTA island with a few of his brothers. he's approx 2". 3rd is TIGER, he hangs out on the right BTA island with Freckles, along with a few other Picasso's. he's approximately 1.75". 4th and last one is SYMM, he is one of the two candidates to mate with Big Mama (3 yrs old ORA Premium). he's slightly smaller than the other dominant male. there's a group of 4 Picasso's that guard the left BTA island. he's approximately 2.25". hope you enjoyed the update. any comments or questions, post away. :)

Why did you get rid of the Chevron Tang?
They have been one of my "wants", but never been in a position to pick one up.

WOW Marvin great photos and fish! :D
Thank you. 1smile1

Why did you get rid of the Chevron Tang?

Hi Martin. I wanted to get some more color since the Chevron already had an almost adult coloration. The Majestic angel took his spot. I'm quite happy with the switch. Chevron's are awesome when their juvis but kinda boring, colorwise, when they get older. ;)

Wonderful pics and beautiful pics. I like that you name them. Must be fun to watch them and their tank behaviors

I love how Tiger's rear coloration looks like fangs ;)
GREAT UPDATE!!

wOw! Good eye. Just looked at the pic again and it does look like fangs. I'll have to double check if that's how it really looks like in person. I'm thinking just the angle of the shot, but you never know. Will verify tonight. Thanks for pointing it out. :)

a few exciting vids to share.

last Sat (01-26-2013), I found my tank cloudy. I thought one of the BTA's was turned into soup by the MP40. I guessed wrong. to my surprise I think I'm witnessing a spawning event. this kept going for the next 30-45 mins. I'm not really sure how long it's been happening before I came down. has anyone experienced this before in their tank? I made up some water to do a water change just in case. sorry, not the best vids as I was scrambling to get the camera. I didn't know how long it would last since this is the first time this has happened in my tank.

then... the bristle worms decided it's their turn. sorry, it a little hard to see but you get the idea. this was happening all over the tank. bristle worms coming out of the rockwork to spew their stuff.

then... Banggai Cardinal pair 2nd spawn (01-28-2013). 1st spawn was 12-18-2012

I think this one is a little bit better vid. this vid shows the eggs transferred and a little closer. used the macro lens. you can see the female being really aggressive to anyone that gets too close. she's in total mom protection mode! ;)
