Hello, everyone I just set up my new 44 gallon reef tank. Nothing in it yet expect heater, wave maker, filtration system, live sand. I didn’t realize a sump is nice to have. I have a Fluval 307 there now which keeps the water pristine. I understand all the cleaning you have to do to the Fluval. Any recommendations.

Would suggest another powerhead on the opposite side pointed towards the water surface.

Definitely needs some rock in there, get it in there asap.

Did you start the cycling yet?
Cycle is starting this weekend. Where should the other power head go?

powerheads usually go on opposite sides of the tank, somewhat pointed towards each other to try to create a random flow pattern.

Get the rocks in the tank before you cycle it, or else you will cycle the tank again when you finally add the rocks

Thank you! I’ll do that.
